Tomita Kazuhiko

Tomita Kazuhiko is a Japanese designer and creator of the brand Tomitalia. Born in Nagasaki in 1965, he studied industrial design at Chiba University in Japan. He then graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1992 and moved to Milan where he worked with a number of brands. With his numerous travels, Tomita Kazuhiko is a spiritual designer and a nomad who’s roaming is reflected in his playful and practical creations. His universe and his actions are calculated on the art of the Japanese lifestyle while cohabiting with European modernism. His ideas assume the same objective, to make items that last a lifetime. A linking factor between all his creations is simplicity. The clips which he designed for the brand Essential have been integrated into the MoMa in New York. The range, exposed here at Merci, consists of clips to accommodate candlesticks, clips to seal lunch bags and clips to display cards.
